Winemaker Tony Leonardini is also a volunteer fire fighter in Napa Valley. Ask and he will share stories about traveling the state to put out fires. The “Volunteer” wine salutes that spirit. As Tony says, “it’s easy to donate a dollar, but it’s a lot harder to volunteer an hour.”

WINEMAKING: After a rollercoaster 2015 vintage, we settled into an ideal 2016 vintage. Mellow, even weather led to normal to above average yields with tremendous quality. Wines from the 2016 vintage are bold and vibrant. It could possibly be one of the top vintages in the last two decades.

TASTING NOTES: The 2016 Volunteer Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and deep in color, complemented with lingering notes of black cherry, tobacco and cassis. Flavors of licorice and blackberry provide great structure and finish to the wine.
